Introducing Obee

Posted on 10 December 2009 by OBEEWON

Everybody bloggin, talking about bloggin or bloggin about bloggin. Why not OBEEWON too then huh? Alright. Well folks, to those of whom I am new to (which is quite allot) I am a long time car lover and lover of all things fast, loud, and aesthetically pleasing.

From a young age I can remember having trouble going to sleep unless I had at least 2 or 3 of my favorite toy cars under my pillow, sitting on my fathers lap and steering the family car around for hours upon hours while pretending to be on a race course in some far off place. Yes…My name is OB, and I have a car problem…

…So do you. That’s why you are here. So we can help each other. I’ll give you a dose of what I got, and you can read it. Deal? Good.

This past weekend I managed to wrench my good friend Trent from his comfy couch and into his drivers seat to make a 3 + hour trip down to West Virginia to the 100 Drifters of December. The last hurrah for 2009. This past year neither Trent nor myself have made it to many drift events as drivers for various reasons (something we plan to change weather Trent likes it or not!). So I felt obligated to make this event some way some how. I had undertaken my 4th engine swap into my S14 and cold, holidays and other things had gotten in the way of me finishing. So I readied my trusty daily driver as best I could.

If anyone has ever been to Summit Point Raceway, you know how great the track is as well as the scenery. Frosted in the previous nights snow, it was only enhanced. Diehard drivers showed up fulfilling the events name and besting it by 7, one note worthy being JR Gitten in his nostalgia inducing S13. Me being an “old head” in the lightest sense of the word, remember this car from before he was rocking the redneck Stang. It was good to see him drive it again.

I registered as the 99th driver, arriving late due to a flat tire along the way. Never having drifted my SC before I was anxious to see how it preformed. The track conditions were interesting. A mixture of snow, ice, dry, wet, and muddy pavement made every move interesting. Surprisingly there weren’t any super serious accidents. But there were plenty of off road excursions and people stuck in the mud. My challenge for the day was the pistol grip corner that I decided was best left unconquered after 1 successful attempt out of 6.

Mud caked in my undercarriage I rolled back to the skid pad with tail between my legs.

My last excursion to Summit Point had temporarily claimed the life of my track car, and I was not going home in my friends 50whp Hatchi Roku support vehicle again!

A cool shot taken by Dan Jenkins and featured on JR’s blog on Speedhunters. More of his photos here: http://speedhunters.com/archive/2009/12/09/driver-blog-gt-gt-vaughn-gittin-jr-100-drifters-of-december.aspx

The day was great despite the conditions. Smiling faces everywhere, crazy driving and good times. It definitely made me want to practice and hit every event possible in the coming year. Im sure Trent feels the same.

Drivers Wanted!

Kanye West x Spike Jonze: We Were Once A Fairytale

Posted on 29 November 2009 by Trent Syndicate

*UPDATED with full vid*

A disturbingly amazing short film from Director Spike Jonze featuring Kanye West. This is defintaley not car related. However, we arent JUST about the cars. It’s also about lifestlye. Kanye West is definitely apart of the lifestyle. Love him or hate him. I hope he sticks around for a while.

Back again!

Posted on 03 November 2009 by Trent Syndicate

So, if you havent been able to tell by now…we had some trouble with the Synauto site in general. An update went south and pretty much destroyed it. This here is a new instance of the blog with a somewhat restored database. We were able to keep most of the posts but still have some rebuilding to do.

We will continue to post here while we are working out the kinks and get things back to where we want them.  :D
